Reservations - Rate Codes

Reservation rate codes that have similar structure can be grouped as part of a rate type. This allows users to simplify their setup so rate settings are managed at the rate type level instead of individually for each rate code. This feature is useful and convenient when users wish to use Hotelitix apprAIse to track the cost of acquisition of bookings.

For example, a property is tracking reservations for their online channels using the below rate codes:

EXP - this rate code tracks Expedia reservations recorded as Net rates with 25% margin deducted.

AGD - this rate code tracks Agoda reservations recorded as Net rates with 25% margin deducted.

HTN - this rate code tracks HotelTonight reservations recorded as Net rates with 25% margin deducted.

BKG - this rate code tracks Booking reservations recorded as Gross rates with 15% commission due.

The property can set up a rate type 'OTA-NET' to track and manage pricing for their Net rate channels with 25% margin and assign EXP, AGD and HTN to this rate type.

Now let's say HTN had a 20% margin instead of 25%. The property can keep the HTN rate code assigned to OTA-NET but they would need to override the settings for HTN to correct the margin. To do this, click the rate type you want to manage from the left side column. You will see all rate codes assigned to this rate type in the far right-side column. Click the edit button for the rate code you want to change and select Yes for Override settings. Now you can override the settings specifically for HTN while keeping the rate code assigned to the OTA-NET rate type.
